How to choose the right birthday bouquet?

Preparing and drying flowers
Drying flowers is simple. Pick them in dry weather, before they are fully open, as this helps retain their colour. Avoid damaged or poorly developed blooms.
Dried flowers should not be confused with flowers preserved using a special process, such as Forever Roses.
Flowers suitable for hanging to dry
- Hydrangeas, early spring grasses and flowers such as strawflowers, statice and winged everlasting are suitable for this method.
- Hang the flowers upside down in a warm, dry and well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight.
- Remove the lower leaves, as they wrinkle and slow the drying process.
- If the stems are weak, support the flower heads with wire while they are still fresh.
- Tie the flowers into small bunches so that the stems in the middle can dry as well.
Drying with moisture-absorbing materials
To help dried flowers retain a fresh appearance, use moisture-absorbing materials that preserve their colour and shape. Suitable flowers include yellow and white narcissi, hellebores, mimosa, primroses, tulips, carnations, peonies, clematis, calendula, roses, dahlias and zinnias.
To dry delicate flowers, choose a drying agent specifically intended for this purpose. Before use, read the manufacturer's instructions, including the safety warnings and recommended drying time.
If using sand, rinse it thoroughly several times and allow it to dry in the sun first.
Reuse a drying agent only if the manufacturer permits it. Follow the manufacturer's instructions for regeneration and storage; do not heat drying agents using a generic method.
