In the history of Champagne and of the house of Veuve Clicquot, La Grande Dame is legendary \u2013 the height of refinement and elegance, the best of the best. La Grande Dame was created as a tribute to Madame Clicquot, famous for her boldness, her dedication to quality and her perseverance. More than two centuries later, these qualities remain the hallmark of a prestigious brand known and admired around the world. Pinot Noir makes up 64% of the blend, from grand cru vineyards in A\u00ff in the Grande Vall\u00e9e and in Verzenay, Verzy, Ambonnay and Bouzy in the Montagne de Reims. Chardonnay makes up 36%, from grand cru vineyards in Avize, Oger and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in the C\u00f4te des Blancs. TASTING NOTES: La Grande Dame 2006 is pale gold with jade glints, crystal clear and with remarkably fine bubbles. Chardonnay comes through first with floral and mineral aromas (acacia, fern, chalk). When swirled, notes of candied fruit (citrus, apricot, quince) and sweet almonds appear and return on the palate. After a few minutes, rare notes such as peaty malt, tobacco and delicate medicinal herbs gradually emerge. The palate is clear, pure and perfectly balanced with a charming silky softness; its lacy structure leads to a long, lively and structured finish. The wine has outstanding ageing potential.
